Hi Bart,
As far as the quitting problems, I have seen many posts here with the exact same issue as mine. FCP in OSX with the Cinéwave drivers quits at the drop of a hat. I can't get any work done. FCP with DV on any machine works brilliantly. Set it up with Cinéwave and it's completely unstable. My VAR was useless when they set my machine up 2 years ago. One of their techs even asked me how to 'Restart a Mac' while I was having him fix some problems. We set it up ourselves by the book and it worked great for a while. Through the time when RT was promised for free, then showed up late with a fat price. Then when I started using SDI, I noticed video and audio off by a couple of frames. There went any sign of looking professional as I try tricks to get the Cinéwave to do something that should be standard. Then don't get me started on the OSX drivers. I think there are many posts in the archive about that one. Then we finally get them along with green flash frames and a volume of workarounds to deal with.
On one hand you can say that an uncompressed NLE comes with some baggage, but I would expect that system to cost under $1000.00. I don't know if DVoodoo is the answer to it all, but I only have to go up from here. There are a couple of post houses in town that have After Effects workstations to augment their discreet stuff. They say they work beautifully. Both systems use D1 Desktops.
I'm not trolling, or lashing out at Pinnacle. The thread asked what I thought about my Cinéwave and for the first time on the Cow I felt an appropriate time to express my feelings about it.
