At this point I don't know of any way to revert a 10.2.4 system back to 10.2.3. You might check with the guru's over on the OS X forum. Luckily I was doing a fresh upgrade when I discovered the problem so I just reformatted the drive and started over.
I've really gained a lot of respect for
Carbon Copy Cloner. I'm going to start cloning key partitions on systems so I can do a quick restore back to a known state whenever I have to (without having to start over). You might want to try it.
