Luckily I've han no need for Medea tech support yet. I've been using four Medea RT 160 units, two on an AVID 9000XL dual stream uncompressed for about 18 months now, (first on MAC then PC).

On the AVID the dual medea RT strip set works perfect.

The second set of arrays are used on the Cinewave, and besides not having quite enough throughput for longer RT effects when you fill up the drives, I have no problems with it.

It never fails to start up in os X, and I never have any drives that "die". So it seems that in that sense, the Medea RT arrays are better than the RTR or RTRX units.

Only problem with the Medea RT: when one drive really dies, there is no option of getting the data back. Sorry. Redigitise. bye bye data.

That's one of the reasons I'm getting so excited about Xserve RAID. Proper PSU and drive redundancy, with a hot spare: when one drive dies, the hot spare immediately takes it's place and rebuilding of data starts automatically.
