Bill DavisDoes CinéWave conflict with DV editing?
by on Feb 20, 2003 at 9:40:21 pm

Has anyone been working in DV on a system that has CinéWave 3.0.1 software installed? I'm starting to wonder if there is a conflict that compromises performance.

I was cutting a DV project in OS X today and _every_ action was followed by a lag and a spinning beach ball. Click. Wait. Click. Wait. Kinda frustrating. I trashed prefs and MOA cache and rebooted a few times, but things continued to be sluggish. FCP really seemed to be creeping along. Next I decided to run the CinéWave 3.0.1 installer and choose the "uninstall" option...just to see. After a reboot the system was back to full-speed, no-lag DV editing. I finished the job quickly without any further problems.

If this is a CinéWave conflict, is there anything I can do short of uninstalling and re-installing drivers every time I work in DV? I offline almost exclusively in the DV format, and then conform with CinéWave.

Cheers,
Bill
