I posted this on Christmas Eve, and just realised that nobody from Pinnacle actually answered, although there were a couple of direct questions or comments to them.
- There is an issue with mirroring out to After Effects on my system -- when trying a RAM preview, the video flickers to green all the time. This is even when taking into account that the reccomended setting is "Either RAM preview or Window Updates, but not both." This happens intermittently, but can be reproduced. There is a mention in the readme about this, or a similar issue, but it should be fixed.
- Am having some issues with scrubbing in FCP -- nothing happens until I actually press play on a clip. Scrubbing works fine if I turn off the External Video display or choose "None" as my External Video target. If I add some render-effects on there, I need to turn back on External Video to be able to see these, and switch it off again when I have rendered the effects. I have no idea what causes this. This has since been verified as being a general issue with CineWave 3.0
- Scrubbing through files is much much smoother than before.
- Working from IDE disks is fine for simple playback and indeed for editing also. Simple playback from a FireWire disk works as well.
- Direct playback of CineWave files from the QuickTime player is no longer possible out to the breakout boxes. Why is this?
- Still not possible to choose SMPTE bars out as default output, nor a still image. I know this is silly, but it would have been nice. The SMPTE bars are more necessary.
- CineWave not available as secondary/terciary Mac desktop.
- No inverse telecine on capture, so we can not capture directly to 23.976 frames per second. You still need a program like Cinema Tools in order to do this. Is this a planned feature, or will we be stuck like this? With the Aja Kona you can specify an A frame as your in point and then capturing 23.976 is automatic with pull-down.
- FCP has simply vanished on a couple of occasions before and immediately after capture. Just vanished, no "FCP has unexpectedly quit." This is slightly serious.
- Some weird issue capturing via the Pro Digital BOB with "aud+video" selected, when no sound is really present on the input. FCP complains that it can not capture audio, but still goes out, cues tape and captures. However, afterwards, no file can be found anywhere.
Anyone else suffered these issues?
