I forget where I read this but....
I was told I had to have a valid input at the analog component in, even though I was only really using the SDI in.
Hooked up my deck's component out to the component in and haven't had a problem since.
I use SDI in as reference. Only use encoded audio in.
I use (forget the name of it... ) the last setting set all the way to -255 in the Targa Cine control panel to time the FCP into our SDI switcher. Seemless.
