I just got off the phone with Pinnacle support to get some clarification on the whole genlock thing. The highlights:

1) The CinéWave BoB does not NEED reference connected directly to it if it's receiving a signal from a deck that has reference.

2) You can select "Pro Digital and Analog" on the all-in-one BoB and leave it there as long as you have a deck feeding it a signal.

3) A consumer-grade VHS deck will not work very well since it cannot receive external sync. You must use a higher-end VHS deck with a TBC or go through a frame sync. This has been a gotcha for me in the past.

It would be nice if Pinnacle released a revised genlock guide!

Cheers,
Bill
