Thanks for the reply.
I am using Final Cut Pro 4.0.2, Igniter drivers 6.0.7, OS X 10.2.6. Igniter X is selected as the audio output device in the A/V tab of System Settings in FCP. It is also selected as the output device for the whole system (System Preferences sound "pane"). This is so sound from other programs, like iTunes, also plays through the Igniter.
Physically, I have the Igniter analog breakout box connected to a small mixer via the balanced Mic outputs. This works very well for everything except for the audio tab of the viewer window when external video is on. Even iTunes keeps working when external video is on.
Yes, I do see audio waveforms in the viewer, and when it plays, FCP's internal audio meters move up and down as if audio was being produced, even when nothing is heard.
