removing echo from interview

I have an interview that was shot in a room that had a certain amount of echo. Despite doing what we could on location to minimize that problem, it still sounds a bit echo-ey (is there such a word?) in comparison to interviews done elsewhere.
I realize that an audio program like Pro Tools is likely the only effective way to try to deal with this, but I need to do the best I can within FCP. Has anyone had any success with any of the FCP audio filters in trying to eliminate a slight echo?
I'm running FCP 3.04 on a dual 1.25.
Thanks in advance for any assistance,
Terry
