The first thing that you need to do is make sure that those specific System Fonts are installed. If you are using Panther then FontBook would be the best way to test this. If you are using a Font Utility like Suitcase or something like that then make sure that the font is turned on. If you do not have the font installed on your system then I would think that the option to install addition fonts during the Mac OS X Installation was not checked. I am not sure if you can do a custom install of just those fonts or if you would need to re-install the entire OS. It is alo possible that there is a package file on one of the installation discs for Panther, you might want to check that out.
