joeHELP- Imac died after upgrading to Jaguar
by on May 30, 2003 at 9:13:43 pm

Hi

I'm having problem in starting up my Imac after upgrading to Jaguar(the screen is completely black). As I have found out later, I have forgotten to update my firmware before the upgrade. I was told that I have fried my logic board until I came across this post on the net:

[ First, you move the hard drive to another Mac, and install an application that lets you run your Mac by remote control, such as Apple Remote Desktop or Timbuktu and set the Startup Disk to boot under Mac OS 9. Once you do this, you restore the drive to the affected iMac, and run the firmware update by remote control. If the iMac has FireWire, I suppose you could use Target Disk Mode to make the drive available to another Mac, and install the software that way. It would save a time-consuming step. But not all early slot-load iMacs have FireWire ]

Can anyone walk me through on how I can solve the problem through the Target Disk Mode Method.
I have other computers and are able to mount the Target disk, but I don’t have OS 9 install on either machine.
So how should I proceed from here.

Many thanks

joe
