SMPTE N10 vs. Betacam525

Hello Everybody,
I asked a similar question about the calibration of my JVC DTV Monitor before but want to clarify after getting some conflicting answers.
Final Cut Pro 4.5 video-playback with my Aja Io is set 10bit Betcam525. Can I still use the SMPTE bars provided by Synthetic Aperature to calibrate the monitor although my playback is Betacam525? Using the SMPTE bars in Blue-only, I have to turn down my chroma by 40% to align all the bars - that doesn't seem to be correct. Image is too desaturated now.
Any input (especially explaining the technical differences between SMPTE and Betacam) would be greatly appreciated.
Christoph
