I spec'd out the HP P-4 zd8000 to match (as nearly as possible) the specifications on my new Gateway 460XL Pentium M 2.13Ghz with a 15.4 screen and 128 MB Mobility Radeon video card.

The zd8000 has a slight edge in processor speed, equal memory, the 17" screen and 256MB video card.

Both machines are capable of HDV and even better quality HD editing if they are equipped with PC Express bus and a SATA RAID. But I am not sure whether the zd8000 has PC Express?

I also prefer cooler running, ligher weight, built in wireless and long battery life in my notebook editor.

That's why I went for the Pentium M/Centrino.
