Ralph,
Start the install again with just the bare bones; no pci cards, just a graphics card, 1 HD, nothing else. Many times you need to install everything at different steps.

IE:
Install SCSI card, restart, shutdown, install netwrok card, reboot, shutdown, install another hard drive, etc.
you can get weird issues with pci slots, sometimes the computer just doesnt like what is in each slot, you may need to experiement with card positions (what was in slot 1 should go in slot 3, etc)

It also sounds like you might have some incorect jumper settings on your mobo, perhaps conflicting cpu speeds. Double check your manual and see if your jumper settings are correct. Your HD may have gone crapola, a bad sector at the end of the drive will cause your problems.
