You seem to be stuck with this DVD-R thing. Guess I need to enlighten you one more time, there is also DVD+R. Because of the compatibility probems is the very reason you should have both formats.

The list of players that you posted that are not compatible with DVD-R, most are compatible with DVD+R and some even DVD+RW. If you want, I can direct to the site to check it.
