With your setup you should be able to generate an acceptable DVD-R for General disc that can be used as input to the mastering process.

If there is a problem with the DVD-R disc, the replicator will probably just ask you to send another copy. Most replicators will not use a DVD-R disc that has any ECC errors on it as the source for a glass master. This does not happen very often if you use name brand media.

If your client insists on "I need to be able to play this in any DVD player!", then you will have to have your project mass replicated. There are no recordable DVD formats that can guarantee 100% playback compatibility in consumer DVD players.
