Making Menu's For The Non-PS Savvy...

Are there any tutorials anywhere that detail how to make menu's with the Corel Photo Paint included w/DVDSP? How about making motion menu's with Commotion (pro)? I'm really not very PS savvy; making these menu's with the highlighted and selected states is kind of kicking my butt. This isn't for clients. I'm nowhere near that point. I'm trying to make a demo for us in between clients, so I'll try to figure something out then shelf it, by the time I come back to it I can't recall what I did. Any "How To Make Simple DVDSP Menu's 4 Non-PS Savvy Dummies" tutorials would be entirely appropriate...
