going from AfterEffects to MPEG2/DVD?

Hi All,
I do mostly CG animations in AfterEffects and Cinema4D.
I convert movies from uncompressed (animation codec) to MPEG2 with QuickTimePro 5.02 on MAC OS9.2.2.
Then when I play my movies with DVD player on computer THERE IS VISIBLE SHIFT in gamma,
ie my animations are slightly darker, I LOST DETAILS in darkest areas!
Do you have any reciepies to correct it ?
Should I compensate gamma or else before encoding to MPEG2.
I'll appreciate your help :-) ,
It take so much time to produce CG animations and see poor result on DVD :-[
Best Regards,
Marek Doszla
