Re: partitioning the drive

I think you should partition the drive into a number of smaller partitions.
The reason being there is a limit to the number of files that the Mac OS supports on a drive and even less in a folder. Since the Avid puts all the Media in one OMFI folder, you can easily reach this limit. With HFS, which ADU supports, I believe the limit for a single folder is somewhere around 1,300 files.

I suggest using the Avid Drive Utility to format and partition your drive, if you aren't already.

When something on a drive becomes corrupt, there is also a tendency for a single partition to go bad first. I've seen people work for weeks with one partition that they just couldn't mount. If you only loose one partition, it is easy with a program like DiskWarrior to bring it back. Even if you can't get the partition back, you will only loose the media on it.
You can create a group with all your partitions, and digitize to them all so you won't have a problem with capturing long clips, or needing to stop and switch to another partition.

Is your drive an RT or just Videoscsi? Good to see you are able to have it work. You may see some underruns with realtime effects.
