partitioning the drive

I have A Medea VideoRaid 4/120 scsi on a MC1000 ver 7.2 MacOS 8.1
This drive has only one partition. Is this a good idea or not? Thoughts anyone? I also very successfully digitise at AVR 77 to this drive (although officially not supported) can anyone see a disaster looming for me?
p.s. the drive runs like a dream
