I installed UL4D card(a HiDef must have) today and now have a ten-way stripe in my Mediadock piped in at 320mps instead of the 160mps UL3D that I was forced to buy as an early Adrenaline adopter. I will have the Kona2 the end of next week so I will have the results posted soon thereafter. With the UL4D, the Adrenaline is noticeably quicker to respond to commands. I'm sure I'll get more RT layers too, but I haven't tested it yet. I want to edit on the Adrenaline or my XPro/G4 setup when I can, so I plan to get both the AutoDuck plugs needed to go both ways, Avid to FCPHD and vice-versa. Hoped for results would be: capture & downconvert HDCam to DVNTSC in FCP then immediately bring media into Avid MC or XPro to cut into final sequence, then re-import OMFI composition to FCP for HD conform. If that trick is as smooth as I hope, a $10,000 Avid HD card is going to be a hard sell at my place. The only prob with AutoDuck is that 24fps isn't supported in those plugins. Interesting thing about FCPHD versus AvidXpro on my old G4DP500, FCPHD needs to be tuned to prevent ANY real time fx that were doable on earlier FCP versions. It will crash or quit constantly if you let it try to handle the fx processing. On the other hand, XPro runs like a champ while allowing more real time stuff on the desktop.
