AMD V. INTEL

Hi all,
I am thinking on upgrading my system to P4 2.4-2.8 MHz system[or AMD ?] and was wondering what you guys think
Which processor I should get AMD or Intel [which avid recommends] and which motherboard
And which graphic card?
I was running PIII with G450 on Intel motherboard, and was very satisfy
Any of you is running the Express DV with AMD base system; it’s really a big difference in the price of it I don’t know about the performance though.
And last question on which DVD burner will you recommend, I heard good buzz on the Sony and not sure if the Pioneer as good performance
