No problem, Jason.

We're glad the suggestions helped.

One more factor to consider is field rendering versus frame rendering. For television, you would want to field render your animations, with the correct field order. When you do this, the resulting movie may look a bit blocky on your computer because computer monitors are not interlaced... don't worry. It will look super smooth on tv or on a DVD played on tv.

Since you're doing a CD-R project, the rules are a bit different. As we said, computer monitors do not use upper and lower fields.... so animation viewed there normally doesn't need field rendering. However, you may wish to use field rendering for this project based on how you're building your movie.

The overall rule is that you'll want to minimize the video compression you're using on the project until the last possible step. This means using the Animation+ codec for no compression(with alpha channel) while you're building your Invigorator animations in After Effects. I assume you're making the movie in DV format, so you'll want to choose the appropriate comp size and render lower field first, interlaced... you use this clip in your video editing software, where you assemble the rest of the project.

Then, your entire DV movie, including the Invigorator sequences, would likely have to be compressed to a VideoCD codec.. doing so will de-interlace the video for your project. At that point, you're trying to balance video quality and data rate (based on minimum speed of the CDR player). You'll lose a fair amount of video quality in most cases.

Good luck with your project and welcome to our 3D world. If you get stuck along the way, please feel free to post again.

Jon
