I am trying something fairly basic and it is turning into a frustrating nightmare.

I am using zaxwerks PRO (the latest version I think) on a pentium 4 using windows XP and after effects 5.5 with a geforce3 card doing my openGL rendering.

I have a picture of a woman that I placed in Illustrator 9.0 and traced and made a cipping mask. I save this in Illustrator 8 format of course. I can load this clipping mask into zaxwerks successfully and create a 3D object the shape of the cutout woman. I have cropped the image of the woman to exactly match the bounds of the clipping mask and saved it as a TGA from photoshop. I then apply this TGA as a texture map to the 3D object in the hope that I will end up with a 3D cut-out representation of the picture (Imageine it is like a thick piece of jigsaw if you will).

Because I have a fairly powerful PC I have openGL rendering on in all the windows (by setting them in user prefs). In the zaxwerks set up scene preview panel it al looks absolutley perfect with the image of the woman fitting inside the 3D shape perfectly (and much better than I thought actually!), but most annoyingly in the effect control panel and composition panel it renders the map in black and white and sort of smeared sideways, and therefore not matching the setup window!! I can not continue with my project until this is sorted.

Anybody got any clues?

Conrad Winchester
