[Bruce Robbins] " How much RAM would you recommend?"

1.5 GB would be nice, but since RAM is pretty cheap these days it won´t hurt to get 2.5 GB.[Bruce Robbins] ". Is Ultra Wide 320 the latest and greatest?"

Ultra 320 is the latest in SCSI technology; it should give the same speed as 2channel Ultra160. But both is more than enough for Media 100 lossless media. Even FireWire 800 would be a good option, since it should be cheaper than SCSI drives and cards.

[Bruce Robbins] "What about 2 40GB drives in a bank as opposed to 4 10GB drives, advantages and disadvantages?"
I doubt you will be able to get 10GB Ultra160 or 320 SCSI drives. I would recommend either getting an external FireWire 2 solution or some internal SATA disks with a controller card. This will give you probably the most GB per $.
