Sorry to give that impression. Basically there's no way to speed up that import. If you do it direct to Media 100 it takes the time it takes, if you do it by using QT Player Pro to convert the Animation file to Media 100 codec, it takes roughly the same amount of time in QT Player Pro, but imports instantly into media 100.

The big difference occurs if you have an alpha channel file in the animation codec render. If you import direct to Media 100 you need to keep the Animation codec file around for Media 100 to access the alpha . If you first convert it in QT player pro the animation codec is copied into the Media 100 file and you can get rid of the Animation codec render.

If you don't have an alpha channel, there isn't an advantage one way or the other. The speed is largely taken in taking the animation codec movie, moving it to the vincent card, getting it compressed by the card, bringing the file back to media 100 and repeat. The same thing has to be done by the QT Player Pro. A software codec would be much faster but does not currenlty exist.

Philip
