The reason that Media 100 interface is larger on OS X is because it follows *very closely* Apple's Aqua interface guidelines (more than anything apple does in NLE *grin*).

The reason, as I guess it, that *everything* in the UI is bigger in OS X is because screens are going to higher dot density and they need to be that big to be usable on the (soon to be standard) screen "resolution" (yes, dots per inch if you must). The old 72 dpi rule of thumb doesn't really apply now and I think we'll be using 150 dpi screens before too long. I've seen (and lusted over) a Dell laptop with a 200 dpi LCD screen. If user interface elements weren't big on that you'd never find them!
