Please allow me to quote from the most recent Customer Advocate Q & A, which can be found at...

http://www.media100.com/advocate.asp?PR=DS

*** Please note the SECOND LINE of the answer.

What are the system requirements for Media 100 i Version 8?

Media 100 i Version 8 will require Mac OS X v10.1.5.

*** The Media 100 Vincent 601 and all variants of the P6000 card have been approved for use with the Apple QuickSilver & QuickSilver 2002 Power Macintosh G4 computers (with Media 100 i Version 8). ***

The Vincent TM card has not been officially supported since Version 7.0. Customers should note that the PowerMac 9500, PowerMac 9600, all versions of the Power Macintosh G3 CPU and the Power Mac G4 Models 5-slot Digital Audio, Gigabit Ethernet, AGP and PCI models will not be supported with Media 100 i Version 8.

To support the additional data that will appear in the extra graphic and audio tracks, an ATTO Ultra 3 dual-channel SCSI card will be required to maximize the optimal throughput and potential of Media 100 i Version 8.0.

For customers on earlier, non-compatible Media 100 hardware, Media 100 has a range of attractively priced options available to get you into a V8-compatible system. To talk to a Media 100 Product Specialist about the many ways to update or upgrade your Media 100 i software in preparation for V8, call 800-773-1770.

The Media 100 i Compatible Peripherals Guide provides an overview of compatibility between Media 100 i software versions, Media 100 Test versions, Mac OS versions, QuickTime™ versions, and Macintosh computer models. Customers should continue to monitor the latest Compatible Peripherals Guides for the most recent technical system information. The most recent Media 100 i Compatible Peripherals Guide can be found at:

Here is some extra information for you....

The SDI Option requires a separate breakout box.

John Higgs has it right - there's one breakout box for composite, component and S-Video (Y/C) and another for SDI, which is connected to the optional SDI board. The DV option is another separate (connection) is on the P6000 card itself (it's a daughtercard).

Jason also has it right … "IF you don't need lossless you can run v8 with V601 or P6000 but not TM". (see above)

The only time the Junction box connector where truly different and incompatible with the recent Media 100 cards (TM, 601 and P6000) was back in the NuBus Mac days - back around version 2.5 - where the solution was a 2 card solution and the Junction Box had different connectors.

Hope this helps!
Best Regards.
