While that is one method for capture, it is not necessarily any more high-quality than the alternative, but it might offer a bit less overall compresion allowing for cleaner keys. If you have a high-end analog capture card, then capturing that route might provide the best results depending upon your needs, but the capture to an analog source could actually degrade your overall image if not done with a watchful eye.

Again, depending upon the capture hardware and utilities used, you might either have better results, or worse, but it relies on your hardware-software combination.

As a rule, DV doesn't necessarily benefit from output as an uncompressed video signal.
