PDX10 is not exactly "OLD" (it just premiered last year).
The "old" version was the PD100.

Regardless, these "should I buy the PRO cam or the CONSUMER cam" come up VERY often.
I think the discussions on the VX2000 vs. the PD150 may have used more COW computer space on this forum than any other.

Your question is identical.
If you regularly need to input XLR mics and mixers, you will be glad you spent the extra $$ on the PDX10. The audio RECORDING QUALITY will be the same on both cameras... just the input jack(s) will vary.

DVCAM speed to me (even as a PRO user) is not worth ANY money... I never use it, and never need it on my PD150... it just "eats up" tape faster with no quaility gain whatsoever.

So, given that the image-quality and operation between PRO versions and CONSUMER versions (of the cameras on this discussion) is identical, it comes down to your audio needs, convenience and budget.
