Correct. DV and DV-CAM record the same video information...DV-CAM just uses more tape to do it, so it is a bit more reliable, as well as the audio benefits (audio lock) mentioned before. I have (personally) never had a video drop-out on a mini-dv except when I was re-using tapes (which is pretty much a no-no anyway).
