A short shotgun or hyper-cardiod usually sounds better on echoy interiors than a true shotgun. However, a true or long shotgun will have better reach than a short shotgun, this may be a factor on some shots.

Having said that, I use the 4073a for everything I boom but I do industrials, not "movies". I think that a generally, for best quality, you have to fit the mic to the situation.
