Okay, for under $200, if you want to go with a lav, I would suggest the Sony ECM 44B. You pin it on the subjects clothing, its quick and easy to set up and sounds good.
In terms of a handheld type of mic, check out the Sennheiser MD46. It's a cardioid mic which helps reduce background noise, and it can double as a nice little vo mic.
