I don't know Vegas enough but the main problem using a video editor as an audio post editor is that most NLE are very weak when it come to audio editing. Meaning you don't always have nice standard plugins for sweetining or even audio scrubbing on some NLEs and I seen none that take MIDI. It can be done but your better off. Try Cool Edit or Pro Tools.
