I guess you could use MD, my bet is on DAT though, here is why:
The minidisc uses compression to squeeze all that info onto it's media, it is call
ATRAC - Adaptive Transform Acoustic Coding.
This means that the software in the decides what is important or not (it selectively records, omitting what it calls inaudible frequncies and faint background noises......) EVERY MD USES THIS TECHNOLOGY. The compression is on a 1:5 formula, way too much for me frankly. I believe you can hear the difference, just like the difference between MP3 and uncompressed audio.
I use my minidsic player when I work out at the gym, for work, DAT is the only boat for me.
