you are correct jek. only the mpeg1vcd setting is having trouble i havent encountered any black screen while exporting to mpeg2. i haven't tried restarting my pc too. i will try, no harm in trying.

adobe premiere software author should look into this. i'm not really convinced that it has something to do with the memory overload because i have a bigger ram 1.5gigs.

anyway, thanks jek for the help.
