Vanishing Pictures on the timeline...

Has anyone ever had their Premiere Pro NOT display pictures in their overlay or TV out? I can't figure out why, but TGA's, BMP's, or PSD's won't show in the monitor window. They show up as black frames. My workaround is to re-import the footage back into the project as a sequence, and that works from there on, but there's gotta be a setting I'm missing.
