There is an issue with premiere Pro running the older version of the Mainconcept encoder under Service Pack 2. Disabling the hyper threading seemed to solve the problem. Since I installed the update for the mainconcept encoder (1.1) I have not encountered any problems. The update is on adobe's website (link Below).

Also, make sure that you have the latest updates for Premiere as well (1.5.1).

My machine has been rock solid since I applied these.
