It wall always be a craft as well as an art. This why there will always be a demand for editors, even though producers will all have NLE capabilities at home and at work (in the fiture if not now). The bottom line is one HAS to know the tools in front of them. Talent varies but if a lack of knowledge is in the house it's obvious and it's painful. The love for the art is what makes one want to sit and sit and sit some more ensuring they can drive the boat. The learning never stops either... or shouldn't anyway. Those who think they know everything know everything they're gonna know. If passion isn't there, it will simply be a temporary gig. If it is, it's only a matter of time before the room is mastered and things are rockin'... no matter what tools are used.
