Vegas 4.0 is a video editing package from Sony (
http://mediasoftware.sonypictures.com/). I was a Premiere user for years, but switched to Vegas a few months ago, mostly because Vegas has some compositing and effects capabilities. It isn't as powerful for compositing as After Effects or Combustion, but it still lets me do things like animate the position of a clip, change transfer modes, and add titles easily, which were things that took me long to do in Premiere.
