Hi, Joe...

What I did was first make 8 seperate pictures of the bird in the different flying positions on a blue background and numbered them Bird-1.jpg, Bird-2.jpg, etc. I reduced their size to 128x56 pixels since PI wants the width to be 128. Then, in PI, I loaded NEW EMITTER then used Alt+ENTER to go to Emitter Properties. there, I clicked on PARTICLES, CHANGE SHAPE and went to where I'd stored the bird pictures. Clicked on Bird-1.jpg and PI told me there were 8 pictures and did I want to use them all. I clicked yes. In the next window that opened, I clicked on FULL COLOR. I put a check in the TRANSPARENCY option then clicked on the black square which gave me an eyedropper. clicked on the blue, which changed the black square to blue then moved the slider all the way to the right to 255 which made the blue transparent. Clicked okay, and clicked OK again in the next window that came up. Moved the ZOOM up to 900 and the VISIBILITY up to 100% so I could see the birds... Moved the LIFE up to 900 so they would stay on the screen longer... Moved the number down to 25 so I wouldn't have quite so many birds and then just started playing around with all the other settings until I got sort of what I wanted. Hope this wasn't too long and gave you some help.
