Hourglass effect

Hi,

I with to create and hourglass type effect where the particles fall and gradually fill up a shape. I have experimented with deflectors to build the shape which is working fine, however I can't figure out how to get the particles to "fill up" the shape. i.e : accumulate once they've landed. Is this possible in PI ? Any ideas ?
