I used to sing the praises of Strata for a long time. It was easy to learn and the raytracing renderer was great. When i began using C4d though, I was constantly amazed at how intuitive it was and how well thought out it was. Just being able to create a boolean that didnt take 20 minutes to apply and didnt destroy your original objects was incredble to me in itself. The difference between Cinema 4d and other 3d programs I've used (EI, formZ, Strata) is that Cinema 4d almost feels like it asks "How can I help you?" as soon as it loads up, whereas many other programs feel like they taunt and intimidate me with their non-intuitive interfaces (lightwave and 3dMax for instance). Of course, all 3d software comes with a learning curve, but C4d continually feels like an exploratory adventure for me.
