New To 3D, HAve Some Questions.

Can someone give me a rundown on the benefits of C4D over Maya or Light wave? I have heard that C4D is somewhat easier to use. Is this a myth? What would the learning curve be in comparison to Maya? I want to really start working hard at learning a 3D app. I am a graphic artist at a TV station and I am finding that producers are wanting more and more complex 3D, and 3D invigorator for After Effects is just not cutting it. Would cinema 4D be my best choice? If so can someone recommend some good books. Preferably with .mpg/QT tutorials. I find it easiest to learn 3D this way. Any input would be most appreciated.
Thanks
Adam
