Robustness of character texturing with C4D.

Hi, I'm considering purchasing C4D but I was hoping some of you might be able to offer your opinions on how easy it is to do texturing in the app (without having BodyPaint). Can you texture individual parts of a model? For example, could you select a set of faces and apply a texture map and an alpha map for blending? What about generating an image of the mesh unrwrapped so it can be taken into Photoshop for painting?
Thanks!
