I would think MatterWaves would be just the ticket. SandBlaster was pretty much superseded by Particle Studio for which there is a max4 demo. In any case, I think MW would be the better solution in this case. It is only $300. Thinking Particles is around $1000 and it is
deep
. I haven't played with it myself but, from what I here it isn't something you adopt mid project:) I think it incorporates MW though if your brave. While it may be tempting to get both MW and PS just to cover the bases, max was promised a major particle update. My guess is it didn't happen in a 4 point release due to slow sales for all 3D apps. It is a sure bet for 5 which shouldn't be far off. My point is go to a dealer and do some proof of concept and just get what you need right now (always good advice w/ plugins).
