No offence to your opinion but Motion is too new to even speculate about how much it will fill the bill compared to After Effects. I use Combustion for compositing chores that can't be done simply in the timeline of FCP, but AE is way overrated as the premier composing application, in my opinion.

Since learning Combustion, I haven't even opened AE in months and to my way of thinking, Combustion can handle all the chores that Motion can't.

From what I can see; Motion is the perfect way to build quick motion menu's for DVD Studio Pro. Probably one of many uses that will minimize development time for composited motion images.
