Premiere Pro does support all frame rates up to 60p (i.e. including 50p.) Yes 50p is as smooth as shooting interlace with twice the vertical resolution. The latest release of Aspect HD for Premiere Pro supports the 50p mode on the PD1. However Aspect HD doesn't support the conversion of the 25p content -- coming soon as there is a lot of interest in that mode.
