Karl,

First,I would say that JVC NTSC HDV or HD camcorder is having huge problems with color and chroma noise in 1280x720 HD format and right now some guys telling that they can achieve color better in SD format(!). Have a look on the text "High-Rate Progressive"

Later you can upconvert to HD, So at the moment there is no any need for problematic HD from this camcorder till JVC solve that problem. Second is to get 24 fps is very easy in PAl than get it from NTSC 30P. About AspectHD all reviews and reports that is OK but still a bit expensive (about $1200). I am on the Mac and things are bit cheaper (Open Source free stuff by Paul St.Denis, Heuris Indie HDV ToolKit, upcoming Lumiere HDV
