It's not a problem, really. You can simply export the clip out of velocity as a .wav and as it brings it back into your gallery automatically you'll have the clip there ready to use and it will have a waveform. It's just a bit of a pain that it's necessary to go through this to get the waveform on the timeline, especially when you have hundreds of these wav files in spots already. But the work around is easy at least.
